Privacy Pledge

1. Who We Are

PioneerFjord is a free social-entertainment platform operated by PioneerFjord Inc. from 785 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3G 0N9, Canada. This Privacy Pledge describes how we collect, use, store, and protect personal information in accordance with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), applicable provincial privacy legislation, and, where applicable, the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

We have a genuine commitment to privacy — not as a legal requirement to be minimised, but as a foundational part of how we treat the people who visit PioneerFjord. Our platform does not process real money, does not create financial accounts, and does not require user registration. This means our data footprint is inherently small, and we intend to keep it that way.

2. What We Collect

PioneerFjord collects the following categories of information:

Technical identifiers: IP address, browser type and version, operating system, referring URL, pages visited, time on page, and approximate geographic region (country and province level only). This information is collected automatically when you access the platform and is processed to maintain service operation and detect abuse.

Preference data: Age-confirmation status (whether you have confirmed you are 18 or older) and cookie-consent choices. These are stored in a browser cookie and/or localStorage entry keyed to your session. No unique identifier beyond this is created or associated with your device.

Contact information (voluntary): If you send us an email, we receive your email address and the content of your message. We do not add you to any mailing list on the basis of contact alone; responses are sent only to address your specific inquiry.

3. What We Do Not Collect

PioneerFjord does not collect payment card details, bank account information, or any financial data of any kind — our platform involves no real-money transactions. We do not collect government-issued identification numbers, social insurance numbers, or date-of-birth data. We do not operate a user registration or account system, so there are no passwords, profiles, or persistent user records on our servers. We do not collect biometric data, health information, or any sensitive personal category defined under PIPEDA or GDPR Article 9.

4. Third-Party Processors

PioneerFjord may use the following third-party services, each of which processes data under its own privacy terms:

Google Analytics 4 / Google Tag Manager: Activated only after you provide analytics consent. Collects anonymised usage data (pages viewed, session duration, device type). IP addresses are anonymised at the collection point. Data is stored on Google's servers in accordance with Google's privacy policy. Retention: 14 months (default).

Google Fonts: Font files are loaded from Google's CDN. Google may log the requesting IP address as part of its CDN infrastructure. We have enabled font-display: swap to reduce the load time cost. If you prefer not to request fonts from Google's servers, you can block CDN requests at the network level via browser settings.

Cloudflare CDN: The Bootstrap CSS grid file is loaded from Cloudflare's cdnjs service. Cloudflare processes the request IP and may log it for abuse-prevention purposes.

No advertising networks, data brokers, social media trackers, or behavioural profiling tools are installed on this platform by default. Advertising cookies are blocked by our Google Consent Mode default configuration and are not activated unless you explicitly grant advertising consent.

5. Cookies and localStorage

We use a small number of browser storage mechanisms described in detail on our Cookie Policy page. In summary: the essential cookies pf_age_ok and pf_consent_v2 are set immediately upon your consent interaction; they persist for 180 days and are not shared with third parties. Analytics cookies are set only after affirmative consent. All storage is limited to the domain of this site.

6. How We Use Your Information

Technical data is used to operate and improve the platform, investigate errors, detect fraudulent or abusive access patterns, and produce aggregate (non-personal) analytics. Preference data is used to honour your consent choices and avoid re-displaying overlays you have already dismissed. Contact information is used solely to respond to your inquiry. We do not use any personal information for automated decision-making, profiling, or targeted advertising without explicit consent.

7. Data Retention

Technical log data is retained for a maximum of 90 days in server logs before automatic deletion. Analytics data (if consented) is retained in Google Analytics for 14 months. Browser-side preference cookies persist for 180 days or until you clear them. Email correspondence is retained for 12 months after our final reply and then deleted unless legal retention obligations require otherwise.

8. Your Rights

Under PIPEDA and applicable provincial legislation, you have the right to: access personal information we hold about you; request correction of inaccurate data; request deletion of your personal information (subject to legal retention obligations); withdraw consent for processing based on consent; lodge a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada. EU/EEA residents additionally have rights under GDPR Articles 15-22 including the right to data portability and the right to object to processing. 9. Security

Our platform is served exclusively over HTTPS. Server infrastructure uses current TLS configurations and firewall rules. We do not store financial data, which eliminates the most significant category of breach risk. Access to server logs is restricted to authorised team members. We conduct periodic security reviews and apply security patches to our server stack in a timely manner. While no system is perfectly secure, we take reasonable and proportionate precautions given the limited sensitivity of the data we process.

10. International Transfers

Our primary servers are located in Canada. When third-party services such as Google Analytics process your data, it may be transferred to servers in the United States and other jurisdictions. These transfers are governed by standard contractual clauses and the respective service provider's binding corporate rules. We select processors that provide appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers consistent with PIPEDA and, where applicable, GDPR Chapter V.

11. Changes to This Pledge

If we make material changes to this Privacy Pledge, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where practicable, provide a summary of changes in the platform update log. Continued use of PioneerFjord following a material change constitutes acceptance of the revised Pledge. If we ever introduce features that materially expand data collection, we will re-seek consent as required by applicable law.
